Start with the constraints that are expensive to change: location, electrical service, available space and installation access. Then choose the heat experience and features you prefer.
1. Choose the heat experience
Infrared cabins heat the user primarily with radiant energy. Traditional saunas heat the room and typically operate at higher air temperatures. Barrel describes an enclosure shape, not a heat technology. Verify the heater supplied with any barrel model.

2. Set the full project budget
The purchase price is only one line item. Delivery, site access, electrical work, a foundation or pad, assembly and accessories can materially change the total.

3. Measure the site
Record width, depth, ceiling height, doorways, turns, floor condition and the route from curb to final location. Keep manufacturer clearances separate from the cabinet dimensions.

4. Verify electrical requirements
Published voltage is not a complete installation plan. Amperage, dedicated circuits, plug configuration, hardwiring, local code and panel capacity all matter.
- Do not assume every 120V product can share an existing circuit
- Do not treat a nearby 240V receptacle as automatic compatibility
- Ask a licensed electrician to confirm the intended setup
5. Compare construction and support
Materials, heater design, controls, warranty scope, replacement parts and seller support can matter more over time than a long feature list.
- Read exclusions and labor coverage in the warranty
- Confirm who handles freight damage
- Check parts availability and service channels
Questions to ask before buying
Can the packaged sauna reach the room? Is the floor suitable? What circuit is required? Who performs assembly? What happens if freight arrives damaged? Which warranty terms apply to the original purchaser?
